About this work
The god Mars as personification of the planet Mars dressed in armor. At his feet lie the constellations Scorpio and Aries, his planetary children. He stands on a pedestal in an architectural frame decorated with ornaments. In the frieze at the bottom, a star is depicted in a medallion, flanked by playing putti. The print is printed with multiple woodblocks.
