About this work
The personification of the Republic of the Netherlands sits on a throne, in her hands a sceptre and a shield with the image of three crowns. To the left of the throne stand Mercury and Neptune and to the right personifications who want to offer gifts to the enthroned Republic. In the foreground stand a smith with a hammer at an anvil and two putti with a small scale.
