About this work
A soldier, full-length, facing right, holding a matchlock musket (a specific type of firearm) with his left hand. With his right hand, he removes the burning match lying on the cock (part of the ignition mechanism) of his musket. This print is part of the series of 42 numbered prints of matchlock musketeers from the Wapenhandelinghe.
