About this work
A soldier, full-length, facing right, closing the pan (the powder reservoir) of his matchlock musket (a specific type of firearm) with his right hand. In his left hand, besides the musket, he holds a burning match. This print is part of the series of 42 numbered prints of matchlock musketeers from the Wapenhandelinghe.
