About this work
A soldier, full-length, facing right, shaking a matchlock musket (a specific type of firearm) with both hands to dislodge any powder that may have fallen out of the pan (the powder reservoir). In his left hand, besides the barrel of the musket, he holds a burning match. This print is part of the series of 42 numbered prints of matchlock musketeers from the Wapenhandelinghe.
