About this work

A soldier, full-length, facing right, holding a musket (a certain type of firearm) with his left hand. With his thumb and middle finger of his right hand, he places the lit match against the pan (part of the ignition mechanism) of his musket in the correct position and shape. This print is part of the series of 43 numbered prints of musketeers from the Wapenhandelinghe.
