About this work
Adapted reissue of the print in which William III was presented as the savior of the fatherland. In the representation the Dutch Maiden lies sick in bed. At the foot of the bed stands the Dutch lion next to a painting with the emblem of the seven united provinces, which takes the place of the portrait of William III. Left the praying personification Religion. The visiting physician is probably Constantijn Huygens. After a publication ban on the original version of the print in 1665, Crispijn de Passe the Younger made an adapted representation. The Dutch verse under the representation is also slightly modified.
