Battles with the Portuguese and the local population at Rufisque and Portudal in West Africa, June 1601. The print is dedicated to Simon Parduyn, mayor of Middelburg; in the center of the image is his family coat of arms with motto and dedication. At the bottom left and right cartouches with inscriptions in Dutch. Mirror-image copies of the original illustrations by Floris Balthasarsz. van Berckenrode in the report of Joris van Spilbergen's voyage to the East Indies, 1601-1604. No. 1.
