Fireworks in Honor of the Coronation of William III and Mary II as King and Queen of Great Britain, 1689

Fireworks in honour of the coronation of Willem III and Maria II as King and Queen of Great Britain, 21 April 1689. Fireworks set off by the English merchants in Amsterdam from several ships on the water in front of the Kloveniersdoelen in Amsterdam. A heavily loaded large barge in the front left fires a cannon and has a large flag on which is written: For the Prot[es](tant) Religi[o](n] An(d) Liberty of England. Further forward four heavily loaded rowing boats. Further on, near a similarly loaded bridge near the Staalstraat, the actual fireworks are set off. The streets, windows and roofs are full of people and there are more boats in the water. On one of them, to the left of the fireworks, stand burning barrels, further to the left is another bonfire.
