About this work
Allegory on the discovery and punishment of sodomy in the Netherlands, 1730. The Dutch Maiden as Justice with scales and sword in her hands, sitting on a throne. Under the throne Father Time lifts a cover sheet under which a group of eight (homosexual) men is visible. Above Time hovers heavenly vengeance with a flaming sword. To the right the sins as bound women. In the background the city of Sodom being burned by fire from heaven. The representation is accompanied by a separate text sheet with a poem in two columns.
