About this work

Capture of Ypres by the French army on 26 March 1678. The print is part of a French series of 28 prints depicting the conquests of the French King Louis XIV between 1672 and 1678, titled: Grandes Conquêtes du Roi. In an ornamental frame with, at the top, a plan of the city's fortifications. At the bottom, a cartouche with an inscription of 10 lines in French, with bound prisoners on either side.
