About this work
Allegory with the arrival of Prince William IV in The Hague, 29 April 1747, and his election as stadtholder of Holland. Representation in an arch with Liberty and the Dutch Maid sitting in the foreground. Hanging from the arch are medallions with a portrait of the prince and four representations of the celebration in other places in the country. In the sky, Fame blows her trumpet with a pennant: Vivat Oranye.
