About this work

Satire on the attempts of Dutch troops to suppress the Belgian uprising in Brussels, 23-26 September 1830. The Dutch are depicted as a traveling circus troupe. In front of a tent the publisher Libry advertises the performance; King William I peeks out from behind the curtains. To the right are Prince Frederick, Minister Van Maanen, and General Trip as musicians. On a banner the announcement of the performance of the 'Comédiens du Nord' with the play 'La Prise de Bruxelles par le Prince Fricolet et le Général Tripaille'.
