About this work

Carriage parasol with a cover of black Chantilly lace featuring a pattern of arches containing flowers, and a lightly scalloped edge, on plain black taffeta. Lining of black pongee silk. The shaft is made of deeply relief-carved ivory, depicting among other things birds, dragons, and flowers, without a hook. Topped by a relief-carved ivory knob.
