About this work
Parasol of black Chantilly lace with rosettes in the center, chain border of medallions, and scalloped outer edge with hanging tulips, closely placed, on white taffeta. The lining is of white pongee silk decorated with a strip of machine-made blonde lace. The shaft is of ivory, carved as a knotty trunk around which sparse ivy vines wind in relief. No hook. The shaft can be unscrewed halfway. Topped by a round ivory knob.
