Parasol with a cover of Chantilly (black silk bobbin lace) edged with a strip of Valenciennes (white cotton bobbin lace) and lined with white taffeta on a stick of carved ivory. The Chantilly cover has a star ornament in the center, formed by leaves, and is surrounded by a sparse garland. Below, bouquets with roses, a tulip and other flowers, connected by ribbons of ribbon and leaves with large hanging roses, above which a symmetrical arrangement of flowers and leaves. A border of three roses under each bouquet. At the bottom a strip of Valenciennes with roses and a leaf border. The foldable ivory shaft is decorated with a relief ornament in which the initials 'EVN' appear. (Emilie Regina van Nierop-Gompertz used the initials EvN) Around the urn-shaped ivory tip is wrapped a black silk cord to which balls decorated with tassels are attached.
