Strip of bobbin lace with spruce and rosette or "silver cross"

Strip of natural-colored bobbin lace, Swedish lace. The strip is pinned to a light blue card with seven other strips. Written on the card above the strip is "Laces from Dalecarlia. (Dalarna)" and below it "Furtree-Rose. (gran ros)", where Furtree was probably meant to be 'fir tree', which means spruce in English and translates to 'gran' in Swedish. The pattern is formed by a bundle of threads worked through a mesh ground, a diamond-shaped net ground. The threads form the contours of a stylized spruce tree next to a stylized rosette with four diamond-shaped contours around a simple decorative ground of four large round meshes. Along the top edge of the strip two triangles are made in linen stitch between these motifs. The top and bottom edges of the strip are finished straight and provided with picots. One short side is finished with small knots in the threads.
