Lace cap slip with symmetrical pattern of S-shaped ornamental bands and irises

Cap slip of natural-colored needle lace: Alençon lace. Symmetrical pattern with in the center an arch formed by two mirrored and placed against each other shallow S-shaped decorative bands. To the left and right of this arch these S-shaped decorative bands repeat three times, whereby always from one side a curved twig emerges with pointed feathered leaves and an iris that cuts across the preceding S-shaped decorative band. At the ends of the cap slip such a twig with iris emerges from a rocaille-shaped motif. Comparable rocaille motifs recur along both long sides of the cap slip, alternated with leaves and rosette flowers. The motifs are built from festoon stitches and provided with relief contours. Grounds with radar picots are mainly applied in the decorative bands and rocailles. The shallow scallop border around the cap slip is finished with picots.
