About this work
Strip of natural-colored Dutch bobbin lace. The repeating and symmetrical pattern consists of a large peony between S-volute tendrils with smaller peonies on curling side stems. The motifs are made in linen stitch with openwork edges which also create the drawing in the flowers. The motifs are connected by a lattice ground with braided stitches. Top and bottom of the strip are finished straight, the bottom side provided with picots.
