About this work

Strip of natural-colored bobbin lace: Binche lace. The repeating and continuous pattern consists of wavy feathered leaves, with under each wave peak a plume-shaped flower with a long pointed oval center and between the wave peaks a thick plume-shaped flower. The motifs are connected to each other by an ornamental ground, a snowflake ground. The motifs are made in linen stitch and net stitch with openwork edges. One type of ornamental ground is applied around the wavy leaves. Top and bottom edges of the strip are straight finished, where the bottom edge is provided with picots.
