About this work
Strip of natural-colored Dutch bobbin lace. The pattern consists of a repeating symmetrical composition of an oval cartouche and peonies. Inside the cartouches is a symmetrical drawing with, among other things, two rosette flowers. The pattern repeats but the strip is cut off on both sides halfway through the oval cartouche. The motifs are connected by a round latticework ground with braided layers. The motifs are made in linen stitch with openwork edges. The cut short edges are finished with a very densely bobbin lace strip in linen stitch with openwork edges, without ground.
