Strip of bobbin lace with an arch of forget-me-nots

Strip of natural-coloured bobbin lace: Mechelen lace. The repeating and symmetrical pattern consists of an arch formed by two branches with forget-me-nots, which spring from a halved flower along the upper edge of the strip. In the middle below the arch lie along the lower edge of the strip three linked oval cartouches. Between the successive pattern with arches lies along the upper edge a slightly smaller halved flower and to the right below it, along the lower edge, an oval cartouche. The motifs are connected by a fine mesh ground. The motifs are made in linen stitch with large cut-outs as flower centers and with thicker and shiny contour threads. Two different decorative grounds are applied in the cartouches and between the flower branches. Top and bottom edges are finished straight, with picots along the lower edge.
