About this work
Strip of natural-colored needle lace: Alençon lace. Beneath a scatter pattern of hanging sheaves of corn, a decorative border runs along the lower edge of the strip, featuring a row of alternating standing and hanging sheaves of corn. The hanging sheaves in the border are surrounded by a circle of grains, and beneath the standing sheaves hangs a stylized ear of corn. The border is framed by a series of ovals, each containing a wheel picot. The upper side of the strip is finished straight with a bobbin band. The very flat scalloped edge is formed by the bottom row of ovals and wheel picots and is finished with picots.
