Handkerchief of batiste with a wide border of bobbin lace with oval flowers

Handkerchief of batist with a wide border of bobbin lace: Honiton lace. Round center of batist. The pattern consists of a multitude of simple oval flowers or berries surrounded by a few more or less oval leaves. The motifs are connected to each other by thin stems in linen stitch and with picoted braids. Notable are the larger oval flowers in each corner and the bow with three loops in the middle of each side just along the inner edge. The small flowers along the outer edge differ slightly in design due to the petals which are detailed with wavy edges. The sequence of these small flowers creates an irregular scalloped edge with many lobes. The motifs are made in linen stitch with openwork edges and partly in net stitch. They are partly provided with contour threads. In flower hearts blocks made in form stitch are applied, whether or not worked into decorative grounds.
