Handkerchief of batiste with a drawn-work border and embroidery

Handkerchief of batiste with embroidery - whitework - and around a wide border lace embroidery: tulle appliqué work. Square model with round center of batiste. Sixteen rectangular scallops are cut into the batiste, finished with a narrow openwork border of drawn thread work. The batiste is embroidered along the border and extending into the rectangular scallops with a floral branch with two large round flowers and finer cup-shaped flowers or rose hips alternating with four vine leaves in the subsequent scallop. The floral branches and vine leaves are always connected to each other with a loose garland with one bow and one forget-me-not. The lace pattern is equal and symmetrical on each side. The machine-made tulle is appliquéd at each corner with a symmetrical palmette motif between two large drop-shaped leaves. On both sides this motif is flanked by a large flower, possibly a peony, between some large curling leaves.
