Handkerchief of batiste finished around with needle lace

Handkerchief of batiste finished around with natural-colored needle lace: Brussels gauze lace. The batiste is eight-lobed in shape where the lobes are finished angularly. The lace has a pattern of C-scrolls, flowers and flower branches with berries. The largest flowers are the roses on the corners along the edge: per corner one large rose, placed diagonally and flanked left and right by three simple small roses. In the U-shaped field above stands a rose branch with one rose from which twigs sprout with berries on them. This field is crowned by a cornflower or carnation between two scrolls. A more or less similar but smaller pattern stands in the center field which is framed between two large C-scrolls. The motifs are made with differently executed buttonhole stitches and provided with relief contours. The motifs are connected by a gauze lace ground, decorated with some mosses.
