Strip of bobbin lace with rose branches

Strip of natural-colored bobbin lace, Valenciennes lace. The repeating pattern consists on the center line of the strip of a rosette flower hanging from a curved twig. Above the row of rose branches thus formed stands a row of thick C-shaped leaves. Along the underside of the strip lies a series of elongated volutes forming a very shallow scalloped edge. The motifs are connected by a mesh ground, a round Valenciennes ground. The motifs are made in linen stitch with openwork edges and a cutout in the flower center. The top of the strip is finished straight. The shallow scallops along the underside are finished with picots. The short sides are sewn together.
