Handkerchief of batiste with double ornamental border with leather knots and J-shaped motifs

Handkerchief of natural-colored batiste finished around with natural-colored bobbin lace: fine Bruges flower work. The bobbin lace consists along the edges of the handkerchief of a double decorative border. The inner decorative border consists of four extremely narrow lines which are connected to each other by square form stitches. The decorative filling from which this border consists is also called 'leerkens' (ladders). Attached to this is the second, outer, decorative border with a repeating pattern of one row of J-shaped curls with a dot above the curling end. The J-shaped motifs are connected to each other and to the inner decorative border by a plaited ground. Outwards they are connected to the faint scallop border, which is formed by a series of fields, alternately made in linen stitch and net stitch, where a thick contour thread is wound around. In each corner is placed diagonally a J-shaped motif with same fields, but then the fields are directed inwards and touch the batiste.
