Handkerchief with embroidery and triangular shells with blooming lilies in the corners, finished around with a border of bobbin lace

Handkerchief of batiste with embroidery (whitework) along the edges and finished around with a narrow strip of natural-colored bobbin lace: Valenciennes lace. Square model with rounded triangular scallops, three along each side and slightly larger in the corners. Each triangle has three lobes and in the corners five lobes. Embroidery: In each scallop 'hangs' a curved branch downwards with three leaves or three rosette flowers. In each corner a larger branch, with a blooming lily. Stitches used are sand stitch, satin stitch, stem stitch, buttonhole stitch and cordon stitch and in leaf veins and flower hearts openwork (work with drawn or gathered threads) is applied. Lace: Under an unadorned border of lattice ground, square Valenciennes ground, runs a scalloped edge of semi-circular scallops, accented by a continuous arch line in linen stitch and finished with picots.
