Cuff of a strip of bobbin lace with a rosette flower on a C-shaped stem with three lobes hanging below

Strip of natural bobbin lace: fine Brussels flowerwork. The strip was probably used as a cuff; the short sides are unfinished but cut off. The repeating pattern consists of a rosette flower with a C-shaped stem under which three lobes hang. The rosette flower is flanked by two horizontal stems with a smaller rosette flower and below that by a stem bent twice downwards with a three-part leaf. The three-part leaves and the three lobes under the C-shaped stems form the scallop edge, finished with picots. The motifs are mostly made in linen stitch with openwork edges, cutouts and contour threads. The smaller rosette flowers and some other parts are made in net stitch. In the flowers and some leaves blocks are applied for decoration, made in block stitch. In the three lobes a sparse ornamental ground in eyelet lattice. The other long side is finished straight, with a straight bobbin narrow band.
