Strip of Bobbin Lace with Alternating a Rose and an Oval Flower with Nine Lobes as Petals

Strip of natural-colored bobbin lace, Honiton lace. The repeating pattern consists along the lower side of the strip alternately of a rose and a flower with nine openwork lobes as petals around an oval flower heart. Above this row of flowers several different leaves. The contours of the motifs are made in linen stitch with openwork edges and partly in mesh stitch, with shiny contour threads. Within the contours in linen and mesh stitch decorative fillings are applied in buttonhole stitch. The motifs are connected by a picoted plait ground. The scalloped edge is formed by the flowers and is finished with picots. The upper side is finished straight with a separately worked band.
