Strip of bobbin lace with flower branch and insect between two cartouches

Strip of natural-coloured Brussels bobbin lace. The strip is curved in shape. The repeating pattern consists of a hanging flower branch and a flying insect between two different shaped cartouches. The insects concern alternately a butterfly and insect with four narrow wings. The motifs are connected to each other by a fine mesh ground, a drochel ground. The work is largely made in linen stitch with openwork edges, some cutouts and with net stitch fillings. Various motifs have bobbin-relief contours. Various decorative grounds have been applied, including snowflake grounds and picoted plaited grounds. The upper side is finished straight. The slightly scalloped underside and the straight short sides are finished with picots.
