About this work
Strip of natural bobbin lace, Binche lace. The repeating pattern consists of a curved flower stem with an upward-pointing fan-shaped flower, from which a large feathered leaf springs that bends towards the lower side. Between the successive loose waves thus formed, lies along the upper side a tulip on a curved stem. Below that stands along the lower side a loose flower with five pointed petals on one side. The motifs are connected by a decorative ground, a snowflake ground. The motifs are made in linen stitch with openwork edges. The top and bottom are finished straight, with the lower side provided with picots.
