About this work

Strip of natural bobbin lace, Binche lace. The repeating pattern consists of a tangle of small motifs made with different decorative grounds. Narrow decorative bands with rectangles, made in buttonhole stitch, form oblique ovals along the top and on the center line, always between two ovals, an inverted heart with a drop between the curves. The motifs are connected by an irregular decorative ground, a snowflake ground. The lower side of the strip is finished straight and provided with picots. The upper edge is finished with a linen band.
