About this work
Strip of natural-coloured bobbin lace. The repeating pattern consists of a wavy vine, interrupted at the peaks and in the valleys by a diamond-shaped rosette flower with an openwork centre. Halfway along each wave sits on either side of the vine a curved leaf. The shallow scalloped edge along the underside of the strip is formed by a series of smaller rosette flowers with an openwork centre. The motifs are connected by a diamond-shaped mesh ground, a buttonhole stitch lattice ground. The motifs are worked in linen stitch, with thicker contour threads. The top edge of the strip is finished straight.
