About this work
Strip of natural-coloured bobbin lace: Mechelen lace. The repeating pattern consists of a three-lobed flower and a diagonally directed twig. Both motifs arise from the edge, where the leaves of the lobed flower appear to be halved. The motifs are connected to each other by a mesh ground. The motifs are made in linen stitch with few openings and with thicker and shiny contour threads. In the heart of the lobed flower a filler ground is applied. The top and bottom of the strip are finished straight, with picots on one side.
