Cuff of cotton with bobbin lace and C-shaped motif

Cuff of cotton with a strip of natural-coloured bobbin lace: Lille lace. The repeating pattern consists along the underside of the strip of a C-shaped motif, where the open side is closed by a diagonal line of four connected shapes. The successive C-shaped motifs are connected at the bottom by a pointed oval field. On the center line stands a row of whimsically shaped motifs. The motifs are connected by a fine lattice ground, a tulle ground. The sparse full work is made in linen stitch, with thicker and shiny contour threads. Two types of decorative grounds are used, alternating in the C-shaped motif and in the pointed oval field. The upper side is finished straight and attached to the cuff. The shallow scalloped underside is finished with picots.
