Tea tablecloth of bobbin lace with a four-pointed star in a diamond grid

Tea tablecloth of natural-colored bobbin lace: Cluny lace. Square model with deep scalloped edge. The outline of a four-pointed star stands in the square central field, in a very open diamond-shaped mesh. Running around the square central field is a straight border with a plaited ground, where the plaits form whole and half circles, resulting in a kind of spiderweb pattern. The repeating pattern of the wide outer edge forms deep scallops and consists of a row of fan-shaped flowers with seven petals. Hanging under each flower is an oval shell of plaiting, finished with pointed lobes. In the oval shell a thin stem with on both sides narrow pointed oval leaves made in buttonhole stitch. This motif with leaves in buttonhole stitch also springs from the straight border and stands then between the flowers, with below it a more or less rectangular patch under which a fan as shell, finished with pointed lobes.
