About this work
Handkerchief with a border of natural-coloured needle lace, Brussels gauze lace. An eight-lobed batiste centre is surrounded by a lace double quatrefoil. Within this are right-turning sprigs of 'forget-me-nots' (bobbin lace). An inner border of circles, four times intersected by an oval, is bounded by C-scrolls. From a similar outer border hang fine laburnum leaves. In the corners stand three large roses each with applied relief. The border consists of rosettes and vine leaves.
