Saturn, Model for a High Relief in the Amsterdam Town Hall (now Royal Palace) at Dam Square

The god stands on his left leg with his right leg bent on a projecting plinth before a flat background framed with an egg-and-dart molding. He bends his head, with long hair parted in the middle, forward toward his raised right hand, with which he holds a skin or cloth against his mouth. His left hand holds the handle of the sickle. An animal skin, hanging from his right shoulder and upper arm, is wrapped around his left hip and covers his genitals. At his feet lie, both to the left and right, two children. Behind the god a plow, on which to the left the double bust of Janus in profile and to the right an ear of corn.
