Antependium strip of bobbin lace with broad ribbon

Antependium strip of natural-colored Brussels bobbin lace. Four different loose branches of ecclesiastical flowers (lily, pomegranate, grape cluster) fill triangular and shield-shaped fields, bounded by a rivière of broad C-volutes. The triangles are alternately high and narrow and short and thick, showing a fine lattice ground, while the shield-shaped fields are filled with a coarse lattice ground. Along the scalloped edge runs a mountain-and-valley line of C-volutes, crossed by a fine closed flower garland, which repeats at the top of the strip. The C-volutes are filled with mesh and wrapped with a fine flower garland or crossed by a feathered leaf.
