Strip of needle lace with suns and sheaves of corn

Strip of natural-colored sun lace (needle lace): Tenerife lace. The repeating pattern consists of a square field containing a 'sun': a circular center from which bundled threads form the sun rays. Concentric decorative borders surround the center. Halfway, a thickened line stands out, around which narrow elongated motifs bend, reminiscent of ears of corn, with shifting narrow elongated motifs on both sides. The outer decorative border consists of a series of small circles containing alternately a small sun with a dot at the end of each sun ray and a semi-circular motif on a stem, possibly an ear of corn. This ear of corn motif also appears in each corner of the square field, in the remaining space around the circle. The top side of the strip is finished with a linen band with an openwork edge. The outer decorative border with small circles is at the top, at this linen band, partly disturbed (cut off). The strip shows two and a half suns.
