Strip of bobbin lace with a drop-shaped motif in a tangled pattern of curves

Strip of natural-colored bobbin lace, old Flemish lace. The seemingly chaotic, repeating pattern consists of a series of among others very narrow C-shaped motifs with small oval knobs attached to them. Decorative bands with rectangles, made in shape stitch, form a symmetrical motif in the shape of a drop in this. The motifs are connected by a braided ground. The very sparingly applied solid work is made in net stitch and linen stitch, with the openwork edges approximately as wide as the solid work itself. Among others in the drop-shaped motifs a decorative ground is applied. The top and bottom sides of the strip are finished straight, with the bottom provided with picots.
