About this work

Strip of natural-coloured bobbin lace, Binche lace. The repeating and openwork pattern consists of two different symmetrical candelabrum motifs. The narrowest of the two has a teardrop-shaped centre, the broader one is provided with volutes from four points around the centre, and forms an x. The candelabrum motifs stand alternately inverted. The motifs are connected by an irregular ground, a snowflake ground. The upper side is finished with a separately bobbin-worked band. The lower side is finished straight and provided with picots.
