About this work

Strip of natural-colored bobbin lace: Lille lace. The repeating pattern consists of a rosette formed by a decorative ground of circles, a rose ground. The motifs are connected by a mesh ground, a tulle ground. Along the lower edge of the strip the tulle ground transitions into a band of mesh stitch ground. The contours of the round petals are accentuated with a thicker and shiny thread. The same thread is also used to accentuate the transition from the tulle ground to the mesh stitch ground and the shells along the lower edge of the strip. The upper edge of the strip is finished straight. The shells along the lower edge are finished with picots.
