About this work
Strip of natural-coloured bobbin lace: pearly rosaline. The repeating pattern consists of rosette flowers, some twigs and leaves, and some slightly larger flowers and leaf volutes. The motifs are bobbin lace in linen stitch with cutouts and partly feature bobbin lace relief contours. The flower centres feature 'pearls': festooned needle lace edging. In the leaf volutes, a bobbin lace ornamental ground is applied, a closed pin stitch ground. The top edge is finished straight with a straight bobbin lace band. The very shallow shell edge derives from the pattern and is finished with picots.
