Strip of bobbin lace with feathered leaves in large arches from a five-lobed center

Strip of natural-coloured bobbin lace: Binche lace. The repeating pattern consists of feathered leaves, which move in large arches over the strip from a five-lobed center. Between the leaves the pattern is partly filled with diagonal stripes and on the other side of the center partly with diamonds. The motifs stand against each other and overlap partially. Where they do not touch, they are connected to each other by a fine ornamental ground, a snowflake ground. The motifs are worked in linen stitch with cutouts and openwork edges and in net stitch. The top edge of the strip is finished straight, but frayed due to damage. The bottom edge is finished straight and provided with picots.
