Strip of bobbin lace with a goblet flower crowned by a small rosette

Strip of natural-colored bobbin lace, Binche lace. The repeating and continuous pattern consists along the upper side of the strip of a strongly curved stem to which a cup flower hangs. Below lies along the underside of the strip a slightly curved stem with an upward-pointing rosette flower, which crowns the cup flower. The two flower stems with feathered leaves together form the shape of a comma. The successive commas are connected by a hanging daisy or chrysanthemum. The motifs are connected by an ornamental ground, a snowflake ground. The motifs are made in linen stitch with openwork edges. Net stitch fillings are decorated with snowflakes. Top and bottom sides of the strip are finished straight, with the underside provided with picots.
