Two men stand outdoors on a road or street. The man on the left is dressed in a South Indian hip cloth (veshti, lunghi, dhoti) reaching the knees, and a shawl (chadar) around his upper body. He holds his right hand up, index finger to his mouth. His hair is short; his mustache and beard are broad and full. He may be a laborer from South India. The man on the left wears a hip cloth (veshti, lungi) reaching the knees, with a wide wrapping cloth as a waistband; above this, an open-necked European shirt with long sleeves, reaching past the hips. His left hand rests on his hip; with his right hand, he holds a bag or a cloth. His hair is half-long on the side, short in front; he has no beard or mustache, and on his head he wears a folded floppy cap (à la Frygische muts). He is a lowland Sinhalese or Eurasian.
