Two labourers

Outside on uneven terrain, two men sit on the ground with their knees drawn up. He wears a hip-cloth (veshti, lungi) pulled up to the knees; the upper body is uncovered. His arms, folded over each other, rest on his knees. A cloth is wrapped around his head. The man on the right wears a high-waisted hip-cloth, part of which hangs over his left hip, leaving his legs bare. A cloth (chadar) is draped over his head, covering his back and left shoulder. The man sits on the ground in a tailor's position. His arms lie relaxed on and around a knee. The men are probably from South India and employed in Colombo in the reconstruction.
